Driver Development Course Course objectives This course has been designed to raise awareness of driver behaviour and to encourage safe decision making. As well as promoting an understanding of defensive driving principles, the course also seeks to encourage drivers to be honest about their own driving behaviour. This provides an opportunity for the individual driver to develop coping strategies for both themselves and the behaviour of others.

On completion of this course delegates should have an awareness of: The occupational road risk faced by their organisation How personality, environment, and journey purpose affect driving behaviour The principles of defensive driving, and how to develop new skills and enhance existing ones Personal coping strategies related to driver behaviour How behaviour is the root cause of most crashes How we all behave inappropriately sometimes Who should attend? This course forms part of a life-long programme of driver development and is tailored to meet the needs of the individual delegate, so is suitable for all drivers regardless of experience. Tailor the course to your drivers One of the key benefits of this course is that managers are able to tailor the course to meet their specific business needs, and the needs of individual drivers. Upon booking, managers will have the option to tailor the course so that it focuses on one of the following road risk priorities

Stress Rear end collisions Slow speed manoeuvring Fatigue Speed If managers decide to tailor the course in this way, our trainers will emphasise this topic during the course, whilst still giving an overview of the other areas.
